Editorial Policy

How Our Content Is Created

Every guide on Japan Atlas follows a structured editorial process designed to ensure accuracy, usefulness, and clarity.

Research

Our guides are built on extensive research combining official tourism resources, firsthand travel experience, local sources, and community insights from experienced Japan travelers.

Writing

Content is written with a clear focus on practical value. We prioritize actionable information — what to do, how to get there, how much it costs, and what to expect — over generic descriptions.

Review & Updates

Japan changes constantly — prices shift, attractions open or close, and transportation schedules are updated. We regularly review our guides and update them to reflect current conditions. Each guide displays a "Last updated" date so you know how recent the information is.

Our Editorial Standards

  • Accuracy: We verify facts, prices, and logistics before publishing. If we're unsure about something, we say so.
  • Independence: Our recommendations are based on editorial judgment, not paid placements. Affiliate relationships never influence what we recommend.
  • Clarity: We structure content for easy navigation with clear headings, practical summaries, and direct language.
  • Completeness: We aim to cover everything a traveler needs to make a decision, without padding content unnecessarily.

Affiliate Links & Recommendations

Some of our guides include links to tours, activities, or services offered by our affiliate partners. These links are always clearly identified, and they never influence our editorial choices. We select what to recommend first, and then check if an affiliate link is available — not the other way around.
